About
My path into natural health began with struggles no one could name. For eighteen years, neurological Lyme disease and a severe hiatal hernia that kept my body from absorbing what it needed went undiagnosed, and the search for answers led me to the School of Natural Healing, to devouring books week after week and year after year, and to everything I've taught since. In the end, my life was saved because I listened to my late grandfather's voice and to dreams that kept pointing me to Mexico, where Dr. James and his angel team of nurses, doctors and surgeons were waiting. Some things needed a surgeon's hands, and I'll never know how much all I'd learned carried me until then, but I'm grateful for every bit of it.
The route I had to take was through food: gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free, eating naturally gluten-free, whole, real foods just as God created them. It's still at the heart of what I teach when someone's health is a hard puzzle to solve, and much of that journey lives at CeliacShack.com, read in more than 120 countries. And I'm still learning. For ten years I've been mentored by a 21-time world champion in natural bodybuilding. When we began, I couldn't walk and talk at the same time or do a single push-up, and less than a year later I made a university dance company. The books I'm finishing now tell the whole story.
Through it all, I've held on to one belief: every family should feel capable, not afraid, when it comes to their health. As a mom of five and a Nutritional Herbalist, I've spent nearly twenty years teaching families and professionals about food, herbs and essential oils, in English and Spanish, in thousands of classes across the United States and Canada and in New Zealand, Australia, Mexico and Israel, and many more online. What I treasure most is hearing, years later, that a family is still using what they learned: parents more confident, teenagers more capable, and little ones comforted, loved and protected, with gentle options they trust, often with lovely side benefits and easier on the budget.
That same longing to help people feel safe and heard runs through my other work. Through Legacy Advocacy Group, I support legal teams, Medicaid planning companies, long-term care centers and case workers, and I serve as a fiduciary with a company that becomes the legal guardian for people with no family or friends to speak for them. As a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer, I work beside the children's guardian ad litem attorneys, caseworkers and DCFS so each child's voice is heard. It's a quiet honor to stand with these teams for the most vulnerable among us.
That work is personal. I've danced my whole life, and while I built my network marketing business, traveling and teaching, I was living in a marriage that wasn't safe, with finances that weren't mine to control and setback after setback. My love of dance, my love for my children and my faith in God carried me through, and I built a six-figure business through all of it. That marriage ended in a way I never would have chosen, through a painful event that broke our family apart. My own children had a guardian ad litem with more than a hundred children to care for, and no CASA beside them, and they didn't feel heard. That's why I serve as a CASA today, and why I dream of law school and becoming a guardian ad litem myself. Those years also taught me that a woman needs income of her own, so she can stand on her own feet when life changes in ways she never chose.
Dance has carried me around the world, too. With Promethean Spark, which teaches life skills through dance to children in poverty and at risk, I had the honor of teaching in India and directing the Life Dance Troupe, children whose families come from leprosy-affected colonies, and every performance carried one message: leprosy is curable. Those children taught me that rising out of poverty takes new skills and a new way of seeing yourself.
That's why I love network marketing. What I first shared in my classes has reached more than 20 countries, carried by people who shared it with others, who shared it with others still. It asks very little to begin and offers room to grow: new skills, a stronger belief in yourself, and a bigger vision of what's possible. I picture the most timid voices held up by the most confident ones, and families around the world linking arms to care for themselves and the people they love. Health is so much more than food. It's how we live and breathe, what we drink and surround ourselves with, the sun, the water, the air, and the thoughts we think. So we share what works, learn from each other, and rise together out of poverty of body, mind and spirit, as sons and daughters of God, our Heavenly Father and Mother.
With much love and kindness to you, and to everyone I've had the joy of learning with all these years,
Steffi
